Slocum Jr. Executive Vice President E-mail: rwslocum@ncforestry.org Bob Slocum has served as the executive vice president of the NCFA since 1988. Slocum is responsible for guiding the organization’s programs and represents the association with the state legislature, the North Carolina Congressional delegation and the media. A graduate of North Carolina State University with a Forest Management Degree, Slocum has more than 30 years of experience in the forestry industry both at the local and national level. Prior to directing the NCFA, Slocum served as vice president for forest policy and research of the American Forest Council in Washington, D.C. He currently serves on several environmental boards, including the N.C. Agriculture and Forestry Awareness Study Commission, the N.C. State University Forestry Foundation, the Cradle of Forestry in America Interpretative Association, the National Forest Industry Wetlands Task Force, and is a charter member of the National Council on Private Forests. |

Chris Brown Director of Communications E-mail: cbrown@ncforestry.org Chris Brown enters his eighth year with the NCFA as the director of communications and his 17th year as a publicist. Brown is responsible for all media relations for the NCFA, including the promotion of National Forest Products Week through the NCFA’s Goods from the Woods campaign. He coordinates the production of all publications such as the monthly newsletter, the Treeline, the NCFA’s video, “Forestry: Keeping North Carolina Green and Growing” in 2002 and the NCFA’s website. He also submits articles for publication in other trade magazines. Brown joined the NCFA after spending six years as the public relations director for the National Hockey League Carolina Hurricanes. Prior to joining the Hurricanes, Brown was a sports information director at Trinity College (CT) and the United States Merchant Marine Academy. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in English from Trinity. |

Jennifer
Grantham Director of Education E-mail: jgrantham@ncforestry.org Jennifer begins her tenth year as the NCFA’s director of education. She is responsible for the association’s education programs such as the Forestry and Environmental Camps, Project Learning Tree and Sustainable Forestry Teachers' Tour. She annually develops new educational materials such as the NCFA’s posters as well as creating and implementing programs for school teachers and children, landowners and the general public. Before arriving at the NCFA, Grantham worked with the North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Division of Land Resources, as a sedimentation education specialist. Grantham earned both her bachelor’s degree in Soil Science and her master’s degree in Hydrology from North Carolina State University. |

Roger
Pyle Director of Safety, Logging and Transportation E-mail: rpyle@ncforestry.org Roger Pyle became the NCFA's director of safety, logging and transportation in June of 2004. Roger comes to the NCFA after spending the past 31 years with International Paper. He has extensive experience in developing and administering to safety oriented programs. In 2000, Pyle was named a H.H. Jefferson Award Winner by the Forest Resources Association. Most recently, Pyle was an Environmental, Safety and Health Supervisor with International Paper. In that position, Pyle Developed and conducted safety training for 40 different facilities, totaling some 400 employees. Pyle earned bachelor's degree in Business from Shaw University, his MBA from Webster's University, his Forest Technology degree from Allegany College, and his Industrial Management degree from Central Carolina Community College. |
