Sustainable Forestry Teachers Experience

Discover forestry in North Carolina! The Sustainable Forestry Teachers Experience is a summer professional development workshop for North Carolina educators that provides opportunities to explore all aspects of sustainable forestry in North Carolina. During this workshop, educators tour North Carolina forests and forestry facilities, learn about sustainable forestry practices in North Carolina, and gain knowledge and resources to bring back to their classroom/program.

Project Learning Tree

Project Learning Tree® (PLT) is an award winning, multi-disciplinary environmental education program for educators and students in Pre-K though grade 12.PLT is a program of the Sustainable Forestry Initiative.

Materials and Resources

Our educational resources include posters, Goods from the Woods boxes and bags, booklets, and more.

Classroom Programs

Our classroom programs are geared toward students age Kindergarten through 6th grade located in the central Piedmont counties. Programs are 1 hour or less and are correlated to science and social studies standards.

Forestry and Environmental Camps

Forestry and Environmental Camps are on site field trips that allow students to become junior foresters and nature resource professionals for a day. Middle and high school students learn topics such as wildlife, tree identification, forest products, and map and compass. All lessons and activities are taught by professionals which gives students the unique opportunity to learn skills and use tools applicable to a wide range of natural resource careers.
