NCFA invites you to join us in a conversation about creating and growing a culture of diversity and inclusion in the field of forestry. Speakers will share their stories working with diverse teams, advise the next generation of young professionals, and highlight strategies business can adopt to build inclusivity in the workplace.
Attendees are eligible for 1 hour of Category 1 CFE and 1 hour of Criteria III for the N.C. Environmental Education Certification Program.
Sam Cook, Executive Director, NCSU College of Natural Resources - Sam Cook has made his mark on multiple aspects of forestry during his esteemed career. He is currently VP of the Natural Resources Foundation for the College of Natural Resources at NCSU. He serves as a board member for World Forestry Center, Forestry History Society, and a Resource Committee Advisor for the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI)-Washington, DC, representing the Black Family Land Trust (VA).
Terry Baker, CEO, Society of American Foresters - Terry Baker is the CEO of the SAF. Prior to this role, Terry served in various roles within the USDA Forest Service for 20 years. From there, he held positions on several other national forests in the western and southeastern US. He has been a wildland fire fighter, forester, and administrator of over one million acres. Baker earned a master’s degree in forest management and policy from Yale University, a bachelor’s degree in forest resources and conservation at the University of Florida (UF), and was honored by UF as one of their 40 under 40 Alumni. He holds a bachelor’s degree in agricultural sciences from Florida A&M University.
Amy Phillips, Procurement Forester, Weyerhauser - Amy Phillips has worked as a procurement forester for the Weyerhaeuser Oriented Strand Board Mill in Elkin, NC for 29 years. Phillips is a long time member of NCFA providing boots on the ground support for several programs and camps, has been a ProLogger since 1996, and is the Landowner Outreach Committee Chair for the NC SFI Implementation Committee. She is a graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and enjoys riding horses and hiking with her hound dog, Steve.
Tony Doster, Carolina Region Manager, Resource Management Service, LLC - Tony Doster is the Carolina Region Manager based in Wilmington, NC. Tony currently serves on the NCFA Board of Directors and as chair of the NCFA Forest Management Committee. He is a member of the Natural Heritage Advisory Board, and a Fellow of the Society of American Foresters.
