The NCFA will host three base ProLogger courses this year. Courses will be held in the eastern, central and western part of the state this year. The base course will now operate on a two-day schedule, typically a Wednesday and Thursday or a Tuesday and Wednesday.
The first day and a half in a seminar setting at a local community college. The first day begins at 8:30 a.m. and runs until 5:00 p.m.; lunch is on your own. Contributing instructors from Forestry Mutual Insurance Company, the North Carolina Department of Labor, the North Carolina Forest Service, the North Carolina Department of Agriculture, the North Carolina Highway Patrol, the North Carolina Sustainable Forestry Initiative State Implementation Committee, and the American Tree Farm System.
The second day will combine some classroom instruction with a visit to an active logging job where lunch will be provided. Representatives from Forestry Mutual, the North Carolina Department of Labor, and the North Carolina Forest Service make field presentations.
For those loggers who would like to become ProLoggers, they can submit a registration form to the NCFA office either by mail or fax to sign up for the next available class. By sending in this registration form, loggers are added to the NCFA’s ProLogger “Pre-Registered List” which some companies request if a logger is to deliver wood.
If you have any questions about the ProLogger base program, please contact Jack Swanner at (828) 421-8444 or email@example.com.
