Base Course - New ProLoggers

“This was a great class with tons of beneficial information. Thank you John Hatcher and presenters for organizing this course!”

Bradley Kohn, Managing Partner at Bruce Allen Construction Company

The NCFA hosts three base ProLogger Base Courses each year. Base Courses are held in the eastern, central and western parts of the state. The ProLogger Base Course operates on a two-day schedule, typically a Wednesday and Thursday or a Tuesday and Wednesday.

The first day and a half is held in a seminar setting at a local community college. The first day begins at 8:30 a.m. and runs until 5:00 p.m.; lunch is on your own. Contributing instructors from Forestry Mutual Insurance Company, the North Carolina Department of Labor, the North Carolina Forest Service, the North Carolina Department of Agriculture, the North Carolina Highway Patrol (Division of Motor Carriers), the North Carolina Sustainable Forestry Initiative State Implementation Committee, and the American Tree Farm System.

The second day will combine some classroom instruction in the morning, followed by a visit to an active logging job, where lunch will be provided. Representatives from Forestry Mutual Insurance Company, the North Carolina Department of Labor, and the North Carolina Forest Service make field presentations.

For those loggers who would like to become ProLoggers, they can call or submit a registration form to the NCFA office either by mail, or fax, to sign up for the next available ProLogger Base Class. By sending in this registration form, loggers are added to the NCFA’s ProLogger “Hold List” which some companies request if a logger is to deliver wood.

If you have any questions about the ProLogger base program, please contact NCFA at 919-834-3943.
