Dr. John Hatcher, a certified forester and executive director, leads the North Carolina Forestry Association’s advocacy efforts with the North Carolina General Assembly as well as interacting with federal and state regulatory agencies on issues that affect forestry and the forest products industry. Prior to joining the NCFA, Hatcher spent three years with Compass South, Inc. in Walterboro, SC as a forest economist. He was involved in all facets of timberland and agricultural land evaluations and appraisals. Hatcher holds a Doctorate of Philosophy in Forestry Resources, a Master of Science in Applied Economics and Statistics, and a Bachelor of Science in Wildlife Fisheries Biology from Clemson University.
During his time at Clemson, Hatcher also served on the faculty as an instructor, graduate research assistant, and graduate teaching assistant. He produced several publications examining different elements of forestland ownership, productivity, and sustainability.
